What is Tweeter

To some of you the name of this post is silly, to some of you its a darn good question. In our new media age you’ll find you fall into one of two categories: those who use social media and love it or those who don’t. Did you know the keyword, what is tweeter, is typed into Google an astounding 3,600 times a month! And thats not even the right name! People mean what is Twitter but know so little about the new media company they misspell it in the search engine, yet they still want to know…. and that want for information on twitter and other social media and micro blogging sites that will surely pop up in the next year will only grow exponentially.

There was never this much buzz around Facebook and look how big its grown. Alright, now for those of you who found this post and really want to know what is Tweeter or what is Twitter. I’ll tell you, Twitter is a micro blogging site that is taking over the web, online and offline communities. You can’t move around a big city without seeing a storefront or ad saying “follow us on Twitter”. Many of you don’t know what Twitter is, like how in highschool I was clueless about Myspace. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t extremely influential in the new media age.

Why is Twitter important and why should you care whether you love social media or not? Because this is how people communicate to each other now and how companies, brands and businesses can communicate directly to their consumers. Its the new direct marketing, except it doesn’t cost 42 cents each time you mail out a flyer… its free. Beautifully, wonderfully free. And those who are in on the ground floor of Twitter, whether you joined in ‘07 or now (its still very, very new people) will find enormous benefits in cementing their place in Twitter history. Tweeter, Twitter, Tomatoe, Tomahtoe… it doesn’t matter what you call it just as long as you realize the importance of new media in every part of our lives. Southwest Airlines deals with unhappy customers on Twitter, CNN posts news headlines, Ashton Kutcher just collects followers on Twitter in a self loving, shameless self promotion that is not only excepted but nurtured.

You can toot your own horn on Twitter and nobody cares, its normal, but their are a thousand small ways of using Twitter effectively and making sure your tweets land on fertile ears. How can you find this out? Spend a day browsing through Twitter, read Mashable’s guide to Twitter, search through the thousands of blog posts dedicated to Twitter. What do I do? Well first I read all I could on Twitter, then I joined, then I bought a great eBook called Twitter Rocket written by an influential blogger all about using organic means to grow your followers and make money on Twitter if you so chose.

Now I’ve started my own Twitter advertising & Twitter branding business called Tweeterpreneur. Its a premium membership site where my team manages companies, brands and individuals Twitter accounts to give them the best ROI in the new media age. If your interested in Twitter promotion for your business or brand you can check out my site here, but the membership is limited.

I love Twitter, I use Twitter and I can see the amazing potential for those who use Twitter for marketing and branding themselves. Get on board sooner than later, even if you don’t have a clue… like Nike always says Just Do it.
