You are a wonder. I never guessed how much you have changed yourself (actually I don't believe you changed yourself at all), really found all (or at least some) of the power within. Me, I escaped the 9 to 5 the old fashioned way – I retired. Imagine if I had had the inner strength to start down that path at your still tender age. I can't imagine where you will be at my age. I can guess. Anywhere you want to be.

I had no idea this whole time you were leaving out your last name. I am an aspiring internet marketer currently interested in branding myself. I too was thinking of just using my First and Middle to = Daniel Christopher and have gone as far as changing my name completely (e.g. Hunter Noble, Daniel Hauk, Daniel Noble). I feel the same anxiety as I would getting my next a tattoo.

Aside from wanting to brand myself. I relate on every level of your story here. I feel carrying a different name you will be able to create your own persona which is more relevant to who your are now or maybe who you'd like to
become, without the baggage your original name carries. AH! I have so much more to say on this topic but I got to go!

It really does… I hadn't thought about it until you said that but it really is an 'escape' from several factors, never wanting to be poor or dependent on anyone save for myself, my nerdy roots, etc.

I'm still working on my personal branding, it is a work in progress, but I am reading a lot which helps… I did do a 'social media resume' for the first time that I hear is awesome branding wise… you can see it in the top navi bar.

If you want to be sucessful in your goals you either have to be running away from something or running towards your goal. In your case it seem's you've been 'running away' from your past – which I guess gives you the drive to be the person you want to be. So Escaping the 9to5 probably has more than one meaning?

First of all. I like the post! It's fresh! Second. I think it's great to put up the blogs of your parents! I think it's a way to acknowledge family and friends, since you are being related as soon as you link them on your blog.

Reading your entry I realized I am not using my surname on my blog either. Well I do on my “about” site.

And I think I even know the reason why I am doing this.
Time of my life I've spent listening to every possible Name that sounds like mine… I was born in Venezuela and I live in Germany…so I am used to hear “Andreas, Anndres, Andre, Anderes” since most can't pronounce correctly, not even all of my relatives here..

I am looking forward meeting people able to write my name (yes, I insist on the “´” ) especially it's funny to see the difference if somebody addresses to you on your blog with your username (in my case diazan) or with your name, which appears only at the end of my posts.

I think Maren Kate has a real ring to it, I often remember that when I'm using you as an example rather than your domain name here.

Just like mine, most people think of me as TheInfoPreneur or James from TheInfoPreneur.
