How do you get to Rome?

Goals are a map for your life, just like if you were taking a trip. So for this upcoming year, good ole 2010 set a map out for what you want to achieve. If you do this & believe in it I guarantee you that you’ll find amazing success! Here are some pointers for setting goals in this upcoming year.

1. Know the destination. Don’t say “I want to lose weight” or “I want to be rich”… name it and claim it, say “I want to shed 15 pounds” or “I want to make exactly $6500 a month net”. You must be very specific about your goals or else your like a traveler telling a taxi driver “I want to be Rome-ish”.

2. Believe you’ll get there. If you mapped out a trip to through Europe and planned to go to Cyprus during your visit would you constantly ask yourself and second guess “will I really get to Cyprus?”. Of course not, that sounds loony. You made your plans, all you have to do is the simple steps to follow through with them. Same for business, why doubt and worry yourself over “if” you’ll get there. Instead go full steam ahead and you’ll end up in Cyprus in no time.

3. Pick a good tour guide. Its good to ‘model’ after certain people, those who you aspire to be like or who are impressive to you. I model after Timothy Ferris, his ideas of escaping the 9 to 5 and working for yourself without too much working inspired me to start this blog. Imagine it like this, if you want to be a lawyer, a big, famous one. Then pick the biggest, most famous lawyer you know and model ALL your behavior after him/her. How can you fail if you do exactly what they did to get to success? Its a home run.

4. Never stop. If your bus/taxi/rickshaw broke down in route to Paris would you and your partner say “Screw it I guess we are going home”. No, you’d find another means of transportation. The same goes in business, never say never. Instead if you bus fails, take a cab, if you can fails hail a rickshaw if your rickshaw breaks… then you got to put your pack on your back and walk buddy. But no matter what get to Paris (your goal) and never allow yourself to look back.

Hopefully these 4 goal setting steps helped you in becoming a better entrepreneur and really learning how to rise above the rest in setting and fulfilling your passions. Business can be a passion too, in fact it should be. Never do anything you don’t love.

So good luck and cheers to your ultimate success in 2010!
