If you’ve been near a computer in the last ten years you’ve seen them before. Actually you’ve probably been exposed to them A LOT, those pesky little ad words ads that just beg for you to click on them through titles like “See how I made $50k in one month w/ no work!” or “Start making $300 a day using my clickbank secret that’ll make you rich”. I know I’ve seen them and I’ll even admit (with a red face) clicked on a few, though I haven’t gone as far to buy into any of those ‘programs’ because I always remember that dying catch phrase if it sounds to good to be true, it is.

But is it? What about the story of the college kid who started a small, social networking site in his dorm room that now has an estimated value in the billions (thats Mark Zuckeberg from Facebook lore of  course). Or the lesser known stories of the founders of SEObook.com that sells memberships to teach you how to optimize your search engine standings who make thousands a week from students and even have to cut off admissions because too many people sign up? These kinds of stories also sound two good to be true, so how do you know the hogwash from the real deal?

Firstly, I’d say value is a good indicator. Would the founder’s of Google offer an eBook on how they did it for 19.99 plus 100 bonus eBooks? Probably not, but people who claim to make hand over fist online offer their ‘knowledge’ and ‘proven systems’ for pennies considering what they should be worth if they really can have you making 10k in a month. Heck think of basic terms of ROI (return on investment). If I guaranteed you (and you believed me) that you buying my course for 1k would in a month result in 5k of profit would you do it? I would, I’d do it 100 times and just pocket all that profit!

This is what most internet rags to riches website boast, that if you just buy their x, y or z they will show you the road to the promised land, paved with gold and speckled with diamonds. I mean, come on people. Use your head. So now what? If I suggest that 99% of get rich quick schemes are just that, schemes, whats left… how do you justify the unbelievable, sky rocketing success of many in the online world. Well I’ll tell ya, thanks for asking! Get rich quick is not impossible, but getting rich quick without a lot of effort is.

You can get rich quick, or you can get rich slow, or you can never get rich and just scrape by (insert majority of world). But if you do want to rocket to success via the internet and online businesses you must follow the path that those who’ve experienced explosive success traveled. That means:

1. Find a Need (not a want, a need)

2. Find that Need’s Niche (bakers, quakers, apple pie makers… doesn’t matter as long as they NEED what you have to offer)

3. Be either the Biggest, Best or First in your niche.

4. Market, SEO and push the H, E, double hocky sticks out of it.

This is not easy. Like all those adwords “make money fast” sales pitches promise it will be. If it was so easy why the fudge would they be telling us? Why wouldn’t they just be making hand over fist and leaving it at that. Why would they offer their precious ‘gems’ of knowledge to us commoners who could use it against them? I do purchase online training courses, eBooks and join membership sites I think will better my online businesses or inform me of things I don’t know (which could fill a warehouse) but the ones I join aren’t cheap. They are usually $97 and up. Besides doing my homework on the people pushing them I take into consideration the price, if its high than the person/program better really deliver, if its low or free I don’t take it seriously. Because I could write a $5 eBook on SEO, it doesn’t mean it’d be good… it’d be 5 bucks worth.

So be smart, pay for good info and ignore bad. And most of all if you want to get rich fast be prepared to work your butt off in the process. Then tell me about how you’ve made money online!

Really enjoying your blog…you're a great writer.

I think there are many ways to make a lot of money relatively easily, but what most people don't have is the persistence to stick with one thing long enough to see it through. I think a lot of people are looking for a magic pill that they can just pop in at night, and be rich when they wake up in the morning. I think a lot of marketing plays on people's short attention span, and makes it sound like their product will work overnight, but the truth is just about everything takes work.

I believe a lot of the too good to be true products probably work. But just don't work as easily as they make it sound in the Facebook ads.

Making money online takes work, but as I'm learning with getting my own internet business going, it's really not that much work. Just a tad more than 99% of the population are willing to put in.

Making money online doesn't have to be difficult if you learn the right ways of doing it and stick with it. You just might fail. That's not bad because that teaches you the lesson of what the heck not to do and if you take advice from those who know what they're talking about, form your own opinion and try your own stuff, you'll get there if you just don't give up. Keeping up with it in the roughest times, I think is the hardest part of it all. Just keep at it and keep learning and most of all keep taking action.
