How to Start a Small Business | Vision & Product Creation p.1

Alright, in the last post about how to start a small business I gave you some tough love entrepreneurial advice & told you to just DO IT! That means breaking down fears, scaling the walls set up in your head that have been holding you back & smacking ‘what ifs’ if the face.

Now that you are all pumped up, hopefully at least a few of you are, its time to put the just do it vibe into motion…

Firstly, if you have a pen or paper handing this will help. Also eyeliner has been known to help me get a good idea written down in a bind. Okay, take a deep breath… iiiiinnnn…. oooouuuutttt…. now we are ready. Write down 5 things you love doing, 5 things you are an ‘expert’ at (as long as you know more than 50% of the population write it down) and 5 things you are very interest in learning about and given the right amount of teaching could be good at.

Example:

5 things you love doing would be: traveling, ice hockey, cooking, reading financial reports & MMA training.

5 things you are an ‘expert’ at: preparing taxes, finding cheap hotels in Europe, reading people’s minds through how many times they blink, beerpong & dog shows.

5 things you are interested in & could become knowledgeable at: website design, wood carving, cooking Italian food, learning how to professionally apply make up & survival training.

Okay, now that you’ve got your list take out 1-2 things from each section that you think there is absolutely no way you could ever make money teaching to people, building for people or helping people with… Now this doesn’t mean someone out there isn’t making money off them but it means eliminate what you think you probably couldn’t make money with, for whatever reason.

Examples: ice hockey, beerpong, wood carving.

Now pick 2 things on each list that you like the most & that you think could make the most money.

Examples: traveling, MMA training, finding cheap hotels in Europe, reading people’s mind through blinking patterns, survival training & website design.

Alright, well you have atleast 6 things to think over tonight & tomorrow! Now I’m going to let you cogitate on these potential business niches & in Part 2 of how to start a small business product creation I’ll explain exactly how to get them up and making you money!
