There are truly millions of blogs in existence today and even more content being spewed onto the web via Twitter, Facebook & other platforms. Sometimes all that info can get overwhelming, especially if you are trying to build your own brand online. That is why I tell myself every day before I write every blog post needs to be a revolution, do I always make it? No. But that is the goal in mind and having it there helps me craft content that I think is not only helpful (there are a million helpful blogs out there) but truly revolutionary.

Here are some ways to make sure your content is a revolution no matter what your niche is:

  • Be bold. Craft content that is bold, fierce and daring, some people will hate it but those who love it will become loyal fans.
  • Challenge the status quo. I named my blog escaping the 9 to 5 because that is what I believe everyone should strive for. Do most people agree with me? Absolutely not, the majority of the working world thinks that I am nuts, but those who do agree with me read avidly and interact constantly.
  • Champion your cause. Whatever you niche is make it YOUR NICHE. This means asking yourself: do I have the passion to be the best in *blank* field and do I have the drive to become the best? If you answer yes to both you are one of the few but it also means you will become extraordinary.
  • Be a thought leader. Thought leaders don’t jump on the band wagon after the trend has peaked, though leaders are those who see a trend and hop on before its popular, that or champion one themselves. These people will create a loyal following, a tribe of people who hang on their every word, trust them completely and are more than willing to pay them for their services.

So try to think like a revolutionary from now on in business, in personal life and especially as an entrepreneur. Look at what is considered normal and figure out how you can go as far from that as possible while still sticking to your passion. For me its having a mobile office, telecommuting employees and traveling non stop. For me its never being tied down to a 9 to 5 job or being stuck in a cubicle. What is your passion & better yet how can you become a revolutionary for that market?

I hope your mobile office has the Verizon map or that is quite the confined space :) Good motivating stuff.

Eccentric = Extraordinary… or it equals crazy like Howard Hughes, but I'm hoping for the former :)

It echoes the sentiments of Seth Godin – don't just do what everyone else does, be different and stand out.

Have you heard the song Viva La Vida (I'm just remembering the one line where they sing 'Reh—voh—lusionary')? Good song, though not entirely what entrepreneurs are about :-)

Locking down a niche is definitely the way to go.

Agreed – you need to say something meaningful or it is just more noise.
